Welcome back to school Caterpillars for an exciting term of new learning.
We hope you have had a lovely summer and are looking forward to the year. All the children have settled well, and we are already very proud of you.
This term out topic is;
In English, we will explore texts based on fictional heroes (and villains!) to help us create labels and captions, sequence and order events within stories, write character descriptions, retell Norse myths and write instructions on how to build our very own superheroes.
History lessons will focus on the lives of Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. We will discover all about their amazing work and make comparisons of how health care has changed over time.
In our science lessons we will be exploring...
We will look at stages in the human life-cycle, discover the needs of babies and all animals, and complete some interesting investigations to find the answer to questions such as...'Do older children have bigger heads?'
Phonic lessons, English lessons, guided reading, maths and maths fluency lessons take place daily and form the bulk of the curriculum. We follow the Phonic Bug and Spelling Shed schemes to support your child in their understanding of phonic and spelling knowledge and Power Maths is used to teach maths knowledge in a structured and progressive way.
In addition to these core subjects our curriculum will also include music, art, design-technology, computing and R.E. We will also explore strategies for mindfulness and well-being and incorporate useful life-skills such as tying shoe-laces and cooking along the way. It should be a busy but fun term for all!
In our Jigsaw lessons, developing our P.S.H.E skills, we will be exploring 'Me in My World' with Jigsaw Jack.
If you have any questions about what we do in school or how you can support at home, please do get in touch.
