We have a history focus this term. We will be finding out all about the Great Fire of London in 1666 and discovering what Samuel Pepys did during this time.
We will be using our non-fiction skills to create fact sheets about the Tower of London as well as making a Visitor Guide to the capital city. We will create a new adventure for Naughty Bus and write instructions to make a cress head.
Our Science lessons this term, will focus on habitats. We will explore living and non-living things in a variety of habitats, including animals that call them home. We will also be creating food chains and identifying producers and consumers.
R.E. lessons will explore the question 'Why is Easter important to Christians?'. We will be developing our observational drawing skills within our art lessons, as well as finding out about the life and work of Claude Monet, and in I.C.T. we will continue to discover how we can use technology to create, organise, store, manipulate and retrieve digital content. In music, we will continue to develop our understanding of pulse, rhythm and pitch and enjoy composing our own pieces to play on the xylophones.
Daily phonics, maths fluency and Power Maths lessons complete the learning this term.
We have a wonderful dance teacher who will be delivering the dance unit this term based on The Great Fire of London.
Just a reminder that P.E. lessons are now on Mondays!
Our P.S.H.E lessons will be based on keeping our bodies and minds healthy...
In addition to our PSHE lessons this term, we will be focusing on our emotional wellbeing. Our Zones of Regulation learning will enable us to recognise and acknowledge our emotions that we are feeling and identify and use strategies that will help us to get back to the 'green' zone where we are calm, focused and ready to learn.
Don't forget to hear your child read for a short time each day and, remember to bring in 5 completed bookmarks to swap for a book to keep from Mrs Ransley.
Home learning challenges should appear soon on the Home Learning page, along with Year 1 Maths challenges (set by Mrs Chapman) and Year 2 Maths challenges (set by Mrs Walker). Aim to complete all maths challenges and at least 4 topic challenges to earn a certificate at the end of the term.
We are looking forward to a busy term of learning. Please check back each week to see what we have been up to and, if you have any worries or concerns, do get in touch.
