Ladybirds' Learning - Term 6

Our final week:

The last few weeks have been super busy...

Have a fabulous summer from all of us in Ladybird Class.

Week beginning 4th July 2022

**update Friday 8th July**
Please find the new home learning challenge by clicking on the 'Home Learning' link on the right-hand menu.

We are starting to creep towards the end of term, but we are still as busy as ever in Ladybird Class. Take a look at some of the things we have been up to...

We watched clips of the film 'Peter Pan' and talked about the characters of Peter Pan, Captain Hook and Tinkerbell. We then wrote descriptions of our characters.

And of the best part of the week... our circus event with Rob from Allstars Circus. We all had a great time and learned some new skills. Parents/ Carers: you will find more photos on the school's facebook page.

Week beginning 27th June 2022

**update: Friday 1st July**
Please find this week's home learning challenge by clicking on the 'Home Learning' link on the right-hand menu.

It has been a busy couple of weeks in Ladybird Class. Take a look below at some of the things we have been up to recently. Apologies that the new home learning challenge was not ready on Friday. Our sports event at the Three Hills tired out the adults as well as the children! You can find this week's home learning challenge by clicking on the 'Home Learning' link on the right-hand menu.

We began the week listening to the classical piece of music ‘Aquarium’ by Camile Saint-Saens and thought about the movements of the fish swimming in the water. We thought the music sounded calm, slow and gentle.

Click below to hear the music too. Remember Internet safety: Always have a grown-up with you when you go online.

How does the music make you feel? Can you move like a fish in the water?

We then created our own pictures of fish swimming in their watery habitat...

We have also been finding out about how the actions of people have been affecting our oceans and the creatures that live within them. We wanted to send out messages to tell people what we discovered...

and finally...we had lots of fun at our sports event on Friday.

Week beginning 13th June 2022

**update Friday 17th June: Please find this week's home learning challenge by clicking on the 'Home Learning' link on the right-hand menu.**
Hello again Ladybird families. Take a look at our learning from last week...

We also learned Makaton signs of the sea creatures you see above. Ask us to show you how to make each sign then join in with the ladies from Singing Hands performing 'Down There Under the Sea' from YouTube.

(Remember Internet safety: always have a grown-up with you when using the Internet.)

We also found a fun game from the ict-games website to help us to spell our tricky words. It is called   'Loo, Cover, Write and Check'. Click on the picture below to play. Follow the instructions to enter your own words so that your child can practise the tricky words they find most tricky to spell. To play the game, read the word on the toilet lid then drag the letters down to spell out the word but... as soon as you have dragged the first letter, the toilet lid will shut! Can you spell the word correctly? Click the flush to see if you are right. Good luck!

Week beginning 6th June 2022

**update Friday 10th June**

A very warm welcome back to all our Ladybirds and their families. Can you believe it is our last term together? Our new topic is called...

It will be an exciting term, venturing deep within the ocean to find out about the creatures that live in a watery habitat. Mermaids and Pirates may also make an appearance too!

To find out exactly what we will be up to this term, simply take a peek at our Topic Grid by clicking on the link on the right-hand menu.

As always, our P.E. day is Monday. Please make sure your child comes to school dressed in their P.E. kit on this day and, with the warmer weather set to arrive, your child will definitely need to bring a water bottle to school each day to keep them cool and hydrated.

If you have any queries, questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Whilst we wait for this term's learning to begin, why not take a look at what we did at the end of Term 5. It was a lovely week with lots going on...celebrating our Queen's Platinum Jubilee, enjoying a trip up the high street and the library (we borrowed lots of books to help us with this term's topic) and giving our all in our Race for Life event...
