Today's story - The Smartest Giant in Town
Good Morning! It's Friday, the last day of the school week! How has your first week of home learning been? We hope you are enjoying spending this extra time with your families and getting out in the garden with this lovely weather! We are really proud of all of you this week and how well you and your families are adapting to this new normal - well done everybody! After today's learning make sure you pop your learning books away for the weekend and focus on doing lots of different activities, we'd love to see pictures of you playing in the garden, making cakes, all sorts! If you ask a grown up to email pictures to email@example.com we can share them on the website for everyone to see what you have been up to! If you look in the latest news section there is a home learning gallery. Who can you spot from KS1?
Year 1 Maths - If possible, we would like you to use a computer or tablet to play some maths games! We suggest using the Top Marks website - click here it will take you straight there! One of our favourite games to play is the Caterpillar ordering - can you put all of your numbers in the right places?
Year 2 Maths - If possible, we would like you to use a computer or tablet to play some maths games! We suggest using the Top Marks website - click here it will take you straight there! Playing the addition and subtraction games will follow on from all of your learning this week. There is also a great money game which we love to play!
Year 1 Literacy - It's the last day of your diary entries! How have they been going this week? In today's entry we would like you to include a question! Remember, which new punctuation do you need to use? We might be giving you some clues here! Don't forget to think about all your learning this week and use it to write a super entry. As an extra activity, using your VIPERS skills, can you draw the sequence of your diary in your books? Just draw your favourite activity from each day! Remember to spell the days of the week carefully, using capital letters to start them! Have you shown your grown ups the days of the week song we have been learning? It's here - Days of the week song .
Year 2 Literacy - It's the last day of your diary entries! How have they been going this week? In today's entry we would like you to include suffixes! Remember, suffixes are added to the end of the root word. Can you use any of these ' ly', 'ment', 'ful', 'ness' or 'less'? E.g. helpless, happily, movement, darkness, helpful. Remember to use all of your learning from this week to write a super diary entry! As an extra activity, using your VIPERS skills, can you draw the sequence of your diary in your books? Just draw your favourite activity from each day!
Good luck and have fun with your learning today, Mrs Harvey will be popping up one final story for the week later on today, have a guess as to which book you think it will be!
See you soon :)

Here is today's story - The Snail on the whale!
Good Morning! Did you see the link to share a story with Mrs Harvey from yesterday? Scroll down to find it if not! Later on today there will be another story put up for us to share with a special VIPERS activity to take part in too! Look out for it!
Did you have a go at Joe Wicks' PE session? We hope none of you did Spiderman lunges into the wall like Joe did! Mrs Harvey was reaching up high for those stars, she even caught a shooting star! Get ready to limber up for todays' session!
Year 1 Maths - Today we would like you to practise finding 1 more and 1 less than a given number. Choose a number at random from your number square, without looking can you say the numbers that are 1 less and 1 more? Try writing them in your book, remembering to think carefully about your number formation, especially those bigger numbers! If you want to try something different, complete a task between saying each number e.g. my number is 50, then I run to the top of the stairs and touch my toes say 49 and run back down touch my toes to say 51. Can your parents join in too?
Year 2 Maths - Carry on with your deeper thinking and proving work from yesterday. Write some more addition and subtraction number sentences, then use your drawings to prove that you are correct. Yesterday we asked you to use chips and beans, number lines and part whole models, can you use these again? How about using tens frames too? For a challenge, can you deliberately make a mistake and prove where you have gone wrong?
Year 1 Literacy - Carrying on with you diary entries all week, we wonder what you have been writing so far? Have you been making, baking and playing? What's been your favourite thing to do so far? Today we would like you to use suffixes in your writing. Remember a suffix is a word added to the end of a root word and usually changes its tense. Can you use the suffixes 'er' 'est' and 'ed'? E.g. play - played, tall - taller, small, smallest.
Year 2 Literacy - How are your diary entries going? We can't wait to see everything you have been getting up to at home! When you are writing today's diary entry we would like you to add some adjectives. Remember, these are your describing words that we put in our magpie nest! Tell your grown ups about our magpie nest in school, could you make your own at home? We wonder what words you might put in it? E.g. Today I baked a delicious gooey chocolate cake.
Good luck with your learning today and remember to check back later to share a story together!

Here are your Maths and Literacy activities for the day:
Year 1 Maths - Today we would like you to practise your counting backwards. Start at the number 50, how quickly can you get all the way back to 0? How about playing number table tennis with someone in your family, you say a number, they say the next, then you again. Complete this rally without dropping the tennis ball (saying the wrong number!) Can you try starting from different numbers and counting backwards? How about practising your number formation from Monday and writing the numbers again? Can you count backwards without using your number square?
Year 2 Maths - Today we would like you to continue your deeper thinking and prove how you know your answers are correct! Using the addition and subtraction number sentences from Tuesday, we would like you to use drawings to prove your working out. You can use chips and beans, number lines or part whole models.
Year 1 Literacy - How are your diary entries going? We can't wait to see everything you have been getting up t at home! Don't forget to keep using your capital letters and full stops too!
Year 2 Literacy - How are your diary entries going? We can't wait to see everything you have been getting up t at home! When you are writing today's diary entry we would like you to add some conjunctions. Remember theres are words like with, then and after. How can you use these to help you extend your sentences? E.g. Today we baked a delicious chocolate cake then went out into the garden while we waited for it to cool.
Don't forget to keep up with your daily reading, it doesn't have to be a school book - anything that interests you! Also, keep practising your tricky words and phonic sounds!
Good luck with today's learning, check back at the end of the day for a special surprise!
Lots of hugs, Mrs Harvey, Mrs Andrews, Mrs Brinkley and Miss Ottaway.
Hello children, parents, carers and families!
We just wanted to let you know that we are thinking of you and your families in this uncertain time.
We will be doing our upmost to support you as best as we can whilst you continue with your learning at home. Each day, we will put activities on here for you all to have a go at, they will include a Maths, a Literacy and a Topic activity. Log onto this page after 8.30am each day to see new learning set.
We will be setting the work under the teacher who teaches you for that specific lesson - e.g. you may be a Dragonfly and your class teacher is Mrs Harvey but for Maths and Literacy you are taught by Mrs Andrews and Mrs Brinkley. If this is the case you need to follow the work set by Mrs Andrews and Mrs Brinkley to stay in line with what you are currently doing at school.
Home Learning packs have also been sent home with children who are currently in school. These include a Topic book for you to use to record any learning, a list of 'tricky words' good to practise each day, a number square and an example of the cursive handwriting we use in school. You will also find a PE pack with ideas to keep you moving, a list of useful websites to support learning, and some NFER test papers. We are NOT setting these books as tests for your children, but as something you can work through together and discuss the understanding and working out.
Thank you all for your understanding and support in helping us continue your childs' learning, take care of yourselves and we look forward to having you back in our classrooms in time.
